ASD Recognition Devices

Regarding the Design and Protocol of Insignia and Honours for Veterans of Participation in Battles of Affective Disorder in the daily activity of the alt.support.depression newsgroup for the Purpose of Recognition and Honour of All Members.

These symbols of recognition are to be worn at times of each member's discretion. Standards for design are as follows:

The insignia shall be constructed of a thumbtack and a common push-on pin-back. Members are responsible for provision and upkeep of materials. Thumbtacks may be procured in the appropriate colour or they may be painted by the member or by a person of the member's choosing. Pin backs can come from any jeweller, sewing or other shop. Members are encouraged to reuse old tacks and pin backs whenever possible.

The insignia is to be worn on the left, members can choose to place the insignia at any of the following locations:

On a headdress, above the member's left eye.
On a pierced earlobe of the left ear.
On the left collar, left lapel or left breast of any upper garment.
On the left side of shorts, at the waistband, only if topless.
On the left piece of footwear if nude.

If a tattoo is desired, members may have tattooed a one centimeter disk of appropriate colour above the heart.
Multiple disks are to be done in a vertical line rising from the position of the first disk.

Standards of Colours and Honours of asd Recognition Insignia

Basic Device of Recognition

All members privately choose the appropriate device.

Colour of the insignia is to be as follows:

For deep cover operations, eg: lurking or home support - Black.
For covert operations, eg: email only - Black or Blue.
For overt operations, after first post - Black, Blue or Yellow.

Only one such device is to be worn at any time.

Devices of Special Honours

Devices of Special Honours are to be awarded publicly by Proclamation in the Newsgroup. Any member may make such proclamation at any such times as they may see fit.

Proclamations regarding deep cover or covert members may be anonymized and couched in terms guarded enough to maintain the secrecy of the honoured member.

For Bringing Humor to the Front lines: Chartreuse.

For Construction of Network Battlements: Grey.

For Research Above and Beyond the Call of Duty: Brown.

For Successes in Any Therapy: Green.

For Success in Battles of Self-Control: Purple.

For Success Over A Personal Fear: Orange.

For Success Over Troublesome Thought: Magenta.

For Success in Battles of Self-Injury: Red.

For Successes in Personal Recovery: Silver.

For Special Service in Crisis Response: Gold.

For Recovery: White.

Members may choose to wear Devices of Special Honours in lieu of or in addition to any Device of Basic Recognition.

All Honours, once bestowed by proclamation, are never lost. Although the state noted by the honour may well change for the worse, the honour, for what it represents of a past event, remains in place for the remainder of all time.
